Felipe graduated from Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, Colombia in 1989 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Felipe has over 23 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry in business leadership and technical managerial roles within Exploration and Production (E&P), the last 19 of them with BP.

Felipe is a member of the Leadership Team of BP America and has a direct reporting line to the Chairman and President of BP America. Since 2005, Felipe has been a member of the BP Upstream Senior Leadership Team. From 2005 to 2010, Felipe was the BP Regional President Southern Cone and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pan American Energy (PAE, a Joint Venture 60% owned by BP). During this period, Felipe led PAE’s oil and gas exploration and production operations in Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay and Chile.

During his BP career, Felipe served as Head of the BP Exploration and Production Executive Office and was the Chief of Staff to the BP Exploration and Production Chief Executive Officer. His career with BP started in Colombia where he held several positions until he was promoted to BP Colombia Operations Vice President.

Beginning January 2015, Felipe was appointed to the Board of Directors of the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

In July 2014 Felipe was appointed to the Asia Society Texas Center Board of Directors.

From 2012 to 2014, Felipe served in the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

From 2006 to 2010, Felipe was the Chairman of the Argentine Chapter of the Latin American Drilling Safety (LADS) organization.

From 2005 to 2010, Felipe served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the British Argentine Chamber of Commerce.

Felipe started his career in the industry with Shell in Colombia as a Project Engineer.

Felipe, his wife Maria, and their two children Jose Alejandro and Veronica live in Houston.
